Attorney David Hodak caused a great stir about two weeks ago, when he called for the use of weapons as a means of defense against a dictatorship, as he defined it.

Today, Attorney Hodak decided to leave the firm, where he was a senior partner - and accompanied the move with an emotional letter to the firm's employees, below are selected excerpts from it:

"On February 1, I participated in a panel on regime change in Israel, at the bar association conference in Eilat, to which I was invited. As part of the panel, I expressed my concerns about the destruction of democracy and the building of infrastructure for a dictatorial regime in the future. In my speech, I warned against fratricidal war and spoke about using weapons as self-defense against the coercion of the dictatorship With guns and fire. The next day, a media noise developed around my words, which included false spins regarding my words. It was a difficult day for me, which included a massive media attack on me. I didn't have time to read emails and anyway I didn't read the email that was distributed to all the people in the office.

At the end of the full day, I started receiving messages from acquaintances, which the office I belong to, denies me.

I was told that an email was published in the media that went out to the lawyers and employees of the office and was deliberately leaked to the media.

The email went out from Maya, with the support of Esther and Eyal.

The email begins with a song of praise for the ministry's positions against violence.

The email opens with "Regarding the statements recently heard in the media on the subject of legal reform (referring to my words in the media - David Hodak), it is important for us to emphasize that our office calls for maintaining the rule of law... and condemning any type of violence" (the clear reference is to the violence in my words - David pincher).

"Our office" adds and says "the words that David Hodek said in the media the last day (proofreading error, due to the speed of the response) reflect his personal opinion only and do not in any way represent the office's position."

This is a complete rejection.

Maybe they should have thought that there was a certain point in my words about the destruction of democracy or opposition to a dictatorship?

But no - it was important for them to deny it completely, lest clients decide to leave the office following my words.

The title in the email is also "David Hodek" for nothing.

Not one of the partners or mercifully the head of the office.

At the end of what I see as an email of real treason, after the sweeping denial of my words, it was said "We reject any use of violence and any violation of the law" (as they say - David Hodak is violent and violates the law, as claimed in some of the media and we will wash our hands cleanly - the dirty ones ).

This email was published, after I was attacked in many media.

The Minister of Justice himself referred to me as someone who says dangerous things, while drawing the legal advisor's attention to my words.

In addition, the police hastened to announce their recommendation to interrogate me.

If that's not treason, I don't know what is.

I assume that Esther was most afraid of harming her percentage in the partnership.

The other two (Aya and Il) felt that they were saving the office from a terrible threat (which turned out to be a scarecrow), while being blatantly promiscuous.

No matter what the "lead" trio do, their betrayal will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

This is an email betraying the value of loyalty and the value of friendship.

Of course, the three traitors did not bother to talk to me in advance about their malicious intent.

When I read the email it was the hardest moment for me.

There were many threats around me, but the betrayal of the three partners, who claim to lead the firm, was the hardest of all.

All this, for the threat of a handful of dollars from the company "Mekorot", which is the client on which many hours are spent and which yields the most unprofitable result in the office.

In the clarification I made, it turns out that the sources did not contain an actual decision to leave the office, but rather an announcement that a number of directors, appointed on behalf of the Likud, expressed dissatisfaction with my words against the government's legislative plan.

Mekorot's legal advisor informed Esther that they are threatening to sever ties with the firm.
