Shell stung again and increased naphtha by another 4%

2023-02-15T12:47:01.440Z

It is an increase agreed with the Government. The rest of the oil companies will follow suit.

Almost like a copy of what happened in January, when it was the first to increase on the 15th, Shell adjusted

its fuel

prices on Wednesday .

The increase was 4%, the value

agreed with the Government.

Also as in January, the announcement of the increase comes a day after the inflation data was known and serves to remind us that prices do not take a day's breather.

The INDEC CPI showed an increase of 6% monthly and

98.8% year-on-year in January.

The firm communicated that, with the updating of prices, it seeks to "

minimally absorb the increases in the prices of biofuels

, the increase in

logistics costs

, and the variation in the

official exchange rate

that affects the price of the raw materials that it uses to the production of fuels.

YPF and Axion have not yet applied the increases,

but they will surely follow the same path in the coming days.

The new gasoline prices will make the super cost $163.21;

the premium, $199.88;

diesel, $175.36 and premium diesel, $238.91.

In this way, the path of increases in the amounts of gasoline defined between the Ministry of Energy and the companies is fulfilled.

As a way of applying a small delay in the impact on inflation, the increase -which

was initially scheduled for every beginning of the month- is applied only from the second fortnight

There are

more increases on the way

: in the agreement

it had scheduled 3.8% in March.

Then, the Government and the companies will sit down again to outline the rest of the year.

Although the other oil companies have not announced it yet, once one company increases, the others tend to fold.

In this case, it was started by Raizen, which is the one that operates the stations that carry the Shell brand.

Although there may be a difference of hours or days, it was always followed by its competitors

Fuels have a weight of

14.2% in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

However, its increase also

leads to higher logistics costs for companies

, since they have to pay more for the transport of their merchandise.

In this sense, the indirect impact is greater.

In any case, Argentine prices are -in dollars-

cheaper than those of its neighboring countries

(Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay), so it is likely that motorists from those territories will continue to come to fill up the tank.

In relation to Brazil, the amounts are similar.

The oil companies applied

seven increases during 2022

.

In gasoline they were below the annual CPI, while in diesel they were above that indicator.
