Engie: 2022 turnover jumped 62% to 93.9 billion euros

The group is boosted by gas and renewables but its net profit is almost canceled due to significant charges.

French energy giant Engie recorded strong growth in most of its businesses in 2022, boosted by soaring energy prices, but its net profit is reduced by 95% compared to last year, at 200 million euros, by significant accounting impairments.

Its turnover reached 93.9 billion euros, up 62.2% compared to 2021. Without losses linked to the revision in particular of provisions in nuclear power in Belgium and a credit loss on the gas pipeline of Gazprom Nord Stream 2, Engie's recurring net income reached 5.2 billion euros (after 2.9 billion in 2021).
