Four ex-agents of the RTE electricity network in court

Last summer, against a background of energy crisis, the four defendants allegedly caused a “loss of remote control” of electrical substations on the network.


This is a case that caused a stir a few months ago.

Suspected of fraudulent interventions on the electricity network, four former employees of the manager of high voltage lines RTE appear Tuesday before the Paris Criminal Court.

Aged between 32 and 36, they will be tried for

"obstructing the operation of an automated personal data processing system implemented by the State"

,

"modifying"

such a system and

"fraudulent introduction of data »

Last summer, in the midst of a wage dispute and against the backdrop of the energy crisis, the four defendants allegedly, according to the complaint against X filed by management, caused a "loss of remote control" of electrical substations on the network

and

put the operator unable to control them by computer.

Since dismissed for these facts, they had been placed in police custody in October in the premises of the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI).

RTE being considered as an operator of vital importance for the functioning of the country, it is this internal intelligence and anti-terrorism service which had been in charge of the investigation.

What irritate the CGT and some employees, who had denounced

“a cabal led in particular vis-à-vis the agents who go on strike and who act on the working tool”

.

Jérôme Karsenti, lawyer for one of the defendants, recalls that

“the employees concerned did not endanger either the company or the customers of RTE since there was no power cut”

.

RTE, which denies wanting to set an example, denounces a

“real intention to harm”

.

The CGT has already called for a strike on Tuesday.
