The National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) finally announced
the new tariff charts for users of the metropolitan distributors Edenor and Edesur
, in which there will be
an average increase of 60%
throughout the year and that will be applied in
two sections , the first in April and the second in June
.
As Clarín had anticipated at the beginning of February, the Electric Power Regulatory Entity (ENRE) confirmed the increase that is applied as a “readjustment” of the cost of the distribution service.
The increase, which is added to the one applied in February for the wholesale cost of energy, will be applied in two tranches:
the first from April and the second in June 2023
.
This was made official through resolutions 240 and 241 of the ENRE, published in the Official Gazette.
The increase in rates will imply an increase that
would not exceed $348 in the first tranche of April and $421 in the second of June for more than 70%
of residential users -approximately 3.8 million- that are included in the categories R1 and R2.
These categories also
include the more than 700,000 beneficiaries of the social rate,
according to the ENRE in a statement.
In the case of General Rate users -for non-residential use- there will be
an average increase of 34% in April and another 34% in June in the G2 category.
The ENRE Comptroller, Walter Martello, assured that "in order to define this update of tariffs, the protection of the family economy
of users of medium and low resources
was taken as a central criterion ."
Likewise, he stressed that the reconstitution is "fair and reasonable" and "less than the retail inflation projected for this year", while stressing that it does not follow "the increases requested by the companies that fluctuated by 300%".
Depending on the distributor and the consumption that is made at home and, finally, also taking into account the segment (depending on the subsidies) in which it is located, the electricity bill in the AMBA will increase in April between 13% and
34 %
from that received for February consumptions.
The ENRE gave various cases of how the rate readjustment will impact, not including taxes:
The bill of a
Level 1
user with an income of more than 3.5 basic baskets - from the company Edenor and who belongs to the
R1 category
with an average consumption of 80 kilowatts / hour (kw/h) per month,
will go from $1,003 to $1,140 in April
(+13.66%), and
then in June it will be $1,310
(14.91%).
On the other hand, a
Level 1 user of Edesur
but belonging to the
R2 category
(with consumption greater than 150 kw/h per month) will have a bill that will go from $2,773 to $3,103
in April (+11.9%), and then it will pay $3,503 in June (+12.89%),
in the case of an average consumption of 225 kw/h per month.
Going to
Level 3 with average income
- an Edesur category R1 user and average consumption of 73 kW/h per month, will pay $593 in April
(+28.08%) and $756 (+27.49%) in June .
A customer of the same income level, but in Edenor's
R2 category
with an average consumption of 238 kw/h will pay $1,795 in April
(+24.05%) and $2,216 in June (+23.45%).
For the lower income segment
Level 2
-of Edenor of category R1 and with an average consumption of 80 kW/h the bill will be $570
in April (+31.34%) and $740 in June (+29.82%)
.
Lastly, a user from the same segment, but from Edesur and category R2 with an average consumption of 225 kw/h, will pay $1,499
in April (+28.23%) and $1,899 in June (+26.68%).
Edenor: increases authorized by the Government from April 2023.
Although the percentage increases
in Levels 2 and 3 are greater than 1
, this is due to the fact that
they start from a lower base
and the ENRE ensures that the impact
on the bill is 40% less than that of this last segment.
In the case of Level 2, the total bill will be on average 46% lower than that of Level 1, and in Level 3, 39% lower than that of higher-income users.
The tariff adjustment was anticipated at the beginning of February by the Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royón, after holding public hearings in January.
Edesur: how the increase scheduled for April 2023 will impact
The secretary stressed at a press conference that "this segmentation policy continues in the line marked by Minister (of Economy) Massa to lead to fiscal order and an orderly State; we need to be more efficient in the allocation of subsidies."
With regard to distributors, as part of the tariff readjustment, the ENRE ordered Edenor and Edesur to present the investment plan for this year with the necessary works for the expansion and improvement of the electrical network, with the aim of guaranteeing the normal provision from service.
