Shortly after the publication of the improvement outline for a consensual legal reform, proposed by the country's president, Yitzhak Herzog - and while the coalition members are quick to reject it outright and present it as one-sided, Israel's economic elite hastened to stand to the right of the president and support the compromise initiative.
Among the supporters are the heads of the major banks: Leumi, Hapoalim, Mizrahi Tefahot, Discount, the International Bank and others, as well as large employers in the economy, including the chairmen of the two food giants, Tnuva and Strauss, Harel Wiesel, Liora Ofer and many others. of This is not surprising: some of them were among the first to warn of the consequences of the legal revolution on the economy and most of them came to the defense of the governor of the Bank of Israel, even before the president published his compromise outline.
On the other hand, the supporters of the president's outline were joined by a significant strengthening player in the form of the chairman of the Histadrut, who together with the chairman of the business sector presidency, Dobi Amitai, announced his support for the initiative presented by Herzog.
This is an important addition of power to the president, who, in view of the outright rejection he received from the prime minister and his entourage, wishes to present a broad spectrum of supporters.

In a joint statement published by the two, it was stated that they express full support for the President's outline and call on all party leaders and all members of the Israeli Knesset to come together as one behind the initiative.
"On behalf of all the workers and employers in the economy, we call on everyone to stand up and express confidence and agreement in the outline presented by the president of the country. Stop the social and economic chaos tonight and restore hope to all of us."
This was stated in the joint announcement.
So far, the Histadrut has been careful not to join the protest measures against the legal revolution and has even launched a campaign calling for dialogue and agreement.
Is the president's outline the watershed for her?
It is still too early to determine, but the assumption is that if the coalition continues the aggressive line that rejected the president's compromise outright, it is possible that the Histadrut and its leader, who until now have been loyal to the efforts to reach a compromise, will get closer to their moment of truth.
