SELP: Smart cards and digital solutions made in France

2023-03-17T09:19:30.170Z

SELP produces and markets physical and digital payment and identification solutions for major retailers, banks and governments.

60 years of know-how

SELP (Société Européenne des Laminates Plastiques) was created in 1956. It originally produced point-of-sale advertising (advertising at the point of sale: labels, small posters, displays) printed on plastic.

Over the course of its development, the company integrates electronic components and begins to produce microprocessor cards.

In the 1980s, SELP established itself as a recognized player in the telecard industry and then developed a secure document manufacturing business.

SELP was absorbed by Sagem in 1998 until 2006. In 2013, when SELP was acquired by Cartelis, a new management team was created around Stéphane Guilbault, Chairman.

Since then, SELP has been developing its smart card production activity in France and abroad, integrating more and more services, particularly around the digitization of its products.

Physical products and complementary digital services

Today an internationally recognized high security printer, SELP also offers many innovative services.

Its offer is mainly aimed at retail, banks and governments.

Its smart cards are fully customizable and integrate secure systems and tailor-made solutions, such as the complete management of loyalty programs for commercial brands.

In addition, SELP provides its customers with advice and training on smart cards.

Aware of the major shift in digital, the company founded SELP Digital in 2014 and entrusted this subsidiary with the mission of dematerializing the products offered by the parent company.

This desire to have a mixed offer for gift cards, both digital and physical, was recently rewarded with a prize awarded by the American magazine

In 2022, the Group is continuing its digitization by acquiring the Bemobee agency, a specialist in UX and mobile applications.

A French SME on a human scale

Despite a turnover of 105 million euros in 2022 and nearly 350 million cards produced, SELP remains an SME with a human face.

This gives it agility and sincerity in the relationship with its customers, distinguishing SELP from its direct competitors.

In addition, SELP integrates sustainable development into its activity.

Thus, more than half of the cards produced are made of biodegradable materials, educational hives are installed on its sites and solar panels allow the consumption of renewable energy.

In order to continue its strong growth, SELP is now looking for new talent: project managers, developers, engineers, etc. Its production sites are based mainly in France (New Aquitaine and Puy-De-Dôme) but its offices sales and R&D centers are also established internationally (Spain, Senegal, United Arab Emirates, India and the United States).
