On the eve of the 75th Independence Day of the State of Israel, Tnuva presents "Israel's Great Food Survey" which presented a broad and fascinating picture of the consumer behavior and eating habits of Israelis at home and abroad.



2 out of 3 Israelis make sure to eat at least two meals a day, 42% do not include vegetables in their meals on a daily basis and 76% want to lose weight, but only 43% have really been on a diet in the last two years, according to the "Israel's Largest Food Survey", so According to a survey published this week by the Tnuva company.



The study, led by Tnuva in collaboration with the KANTAR Research Institute, is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind that examines the eating habits and nutrition of the public in Israel for the first time.

The survey was conducted at the end of March before Passover in a representative sample of over 1,000 adult Israelis (over 18), representing the Jewish sector.

A similar survey will be conducted among the Arab sector after the month of Ramadan and will be published soon.

52% eat Friday dinner among the nuclear family

Eat at least two meals a day

However, a relatively high rate of 42% do not include vegetables in meals on a daily basis.

Eating with the family but in front of the screens

- 90% eat shared meals with all family members at least once a week and about 60% manage to eat together at least twice a week.

More than half eat the Friday dinner with the nuclear family (52.6%) and about a third with the extended family (32%).



The television and the telephone have become regular guests at meals for many, with a quarter of us eating in front of the television (25.7%) and about a third using the telephone during the meal (32.4%).

43% eat out at least once a week

They like to cook, but also to eat out

- Israelis definitely like to cook, with 89% of women testifying that they cook at least once a week compared to 64% of men.

When it comes to cooking every day, only 15% of women and 8% of men cook that often.

Want to lose weight:

35% want to lose up to 5 kg, a quarter of Israelis want to lose more than 10 kg,


76% of us want to lose weight, while 35% would like to lose 1-5 kilos;

About 19% want to lose 6-10 kg and about a fifth want to lose over 10 kg.



In practice, only 43% testified that they have dieted in the last two years, with 32% trying at least one of the trendy diets (no carbohydrates, intermittent fasting such as 16/8, gluten-free or paleo/ketogenic)

Moroccan cuisine is the most loved

And with regard to ethnic foods, the eastern foods lead with the most favorite Moroccan cuisine (50.4%) followed by Iraqi cuisine (32%).
