If it weren't for a case that indicates the way Israel's economy is run these days, it could be funny: one carton of milk, the price of which is supposed to be controlled - but in reality it has three different prices.
What is the reason for the confusion?
The price of milk was supposed to increase today by 16%, according to the outline agreed upon between the Ministry of Finance and the dairies, sometime last summer.
The Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, who was required to address the issue late, turned at the last minute to his colleague, the Minister of Agriculture Avi Dichter - and together the two issued a decree that cancels part of the increase - and puts it at about 8-9%.
But the owners of the dairies did not make a bag of milk - and they decided to go to court with the claim, which would probably have won the litigation, according to which the order is illegal, since it unilaterally violates the agreement with them, without being given the permission to respond.
To his dismay, the Minister of Finance entered into a nightly negotiation with the dairies, in the end a compromise was reached: the price of milk products, on the eve of Shavuot, will indeed be, but "only" at a rate of 9.28%. How much does milk cost in the world? https

The problems with this plan are many, but we will focus on two: first, the marketing chains and stores did not really know how to eat the zig zag at the price.
Many of them this morning stuck to the new regulated price according to which a carton of milk will cost NIS 7.23, instead of NIS 6.23.
By the way, in the branch of the chain where we performed the inspection, there is still a sign near the shelf of regulated products, apparently from before the previous increase in price, in which it is stated that the price of a carton of 3% milk under supervision is NIS 5.86 per liter... also The cheapest of them is more expensive than the price of a liter of milk at almost any price around the world, a finance minister who celebrates an increase of almost 10% in the price of a basic product as a "victory" - and that's even before we take into account the consequences (such as what was promised to the dairies in exchange for their agreement to the more moderate increase, what will happen if, as happened in the past, some of them decide to stop the production of the products under supervision and more).
