In Guéret (Creuse)
Near the village of Le Chalard, in Haute-Vienne, a huge fault mirror breaks the monotony of the landscape. Several tens of meters high, it overlooks the site of Renardières, near the old gold mines of Bourneix. "And there, the galleries were under our feet...", recalls Yves Althman, this gold-bearing memory transmitter nostalgic for the "good old days". The former miner remembers the mechouis between colleagues and the convivial moments in the darkness of their workplace. A time gone for more than twenty years, the last extractions having ceased in 2002 in the department.
When the octogenarian learned of the validation of new exploration licences last fall, the flame was naturally rekindled. "Of course, I'm just waiting for that. The return of the mines here would create jobs and give new vitality to the territory!" But the adopted Limousin will have to be patient. The first drill rigs will not deploy, in a scenario...
