Jorge Ferraresi, mayor of Avellaneda, closed his speech in Edesur. He had arrived there on the instruction of the Ministry of Economy and the Secretariat of Energy. In a letter titled "The certainty of duty accomplished," Ferraresi explained the reasons.
"When we assumed the administrative intervention of Edesur, we were entrusted with supervising and preparing a plan of works in its concession area. Working with the mayors, mayors and the ENRE, we did it in a month," he explained.
Ferraresi announced a $7 billion works plan for the winter. None are big. There was an announcement of a station in the city of Buenos Aires, but the funds allocated are not enough to start it.
"We have presented a diagnosis based on a territorial survey, its reports and the action plan so that our neighbors stop suffering problems due to lack of investment. With the route drawn, we consider that the performance as auditor is fulfilled, "says his letter.
The presentation of a plan of works for next summer was pending. Close to Ferraresi they say it is ready and will be announced soon, but the characteristics of it are still unknown.
"The ENRE and the community chiefs will be in charge of supervising compliance with this works plan. We are convinced that it will be a successful task," he added.
The mayor of Avellaneda leaves in the hands of the Ministry of Energy and Enre (the regulatory body) the supervision of compliance by Edesur with the promised works. "None are big. They're all patches"; slips an intendant of the southern suburbs, of good relationship with Ferraresi, but disbelieving about the possibility that there are "fundamental" changes on the operation of Edesur.
"We appreciate the role we were assigned. We will continue to work together with the community to solve the needs of each territory."
Enel, the Italian company that owns Edesur, hung the sales sign to that distributor. Edesur had power cuts in December, February and March, which generated discomfort because they reached thousands of homes and in extended terms.
