Agregio production, a virtual power plant at EDF

This new entity aims to make renewable energies manageable.


How to reconcile the production of renewable solar or wind electricity, by nature intermittent, with the constant energy needs of customers? It is to answer this question in part that EDF chose to set up Agregio Solution, born from the merger between Agregio and Store & Forecast. The role of this new subsidiary is to manage "the production of intermittent resources, wind and solar and offset it with flexibility on the demand side," explains Félix Reynaud, president of Agregio Solutions. A story of communicating vessels that must be constantly balanced to preserve the network, with the difficulty of managing a resource that cannot be stored!
