For ten years, economic observers have been counting on their gradual disappearance. However, French bank branches have not been wiped off the map, far from it. At the end of 2022, the country still had 34,928, according to figures from the European Central Bank. Between 2018, the eve of the health crisis and today, France has lost "only" 2221 agencies, or 6% of its national park. Nothing to do with the hecatomb experienced by our European neighbours over the same period. In Germany, the fleet fell by 25%, falling to 20,797 branches at the end of 2022. Same weight loss cure, or almost, for the Spanish (-18%) and Italian (-17%) networks.
