It is against the backdrop of a new 737 Max crisis that David Calhoun, CEO of Boeing, presents the 2023 results this Wednesday. On January 5, an emergency exit blocked by a so-called “stopper” door ", broke away from the fuselage of an Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9 (one of four medium-haul models) at an altitude of 5,000 meters, after takeoff from Portland (Oregon).
The plane had to turn around and make an emergency landing, with its 171 passengers and six crew members safe and sound.
The worst was avoided, with no passengers sitting next to this door.
This serious incident once again highlights quality control failures at Boeing.
It comes after the discovery, in 2023, of new defects and poor workmanship on Max, such as poorly drilled holes in a pressurization partition or a missing nut on a bolt of a mechanism of the rudder control system.
