The Omnibus Law continues to add voices for and against its content and this time it is
the tobacco companies
that warn that if approved in the National Congress there will be a
direct impact on prices
due to the increase in internal taxes which, they presume,
could be greater than specified
.
The Argentine National Chambers of Tobacco Companies, the Chamber of the Tobacco Industry (CIT) and the Chamber of Tobacco Distributors of the Argentine Republic (CDT) are in a situation of
alert and expectation regarding the final text
of the law that will begin to take effect. to be discussed tomorrow in the Legislative Palace.
According to the tobacco companies,
the Omnibus Law deepens the tax increase for the sector, from 70% to 75%
, which will be quickly reflected in consumer prices.
The chambers denounced this Tuesday that "in
a decision without consultation and little analysis,
the National Government has decided to deepen the
increase in the rate of internal taxes, taking it to 75%."
