After the Ministry of Transportation reported the withdrawal of subsidies to public transportation companies throughout the country, the president of the Business Chamber of Passenger Transportation clarified that for now this measure "does not affect" AMBA users.
However, he warned that if the objective of removing subsidies in the region were met, the average bus ticket
"would be around 1,500 pesos"
at current value.
"For us this is not new. We represent the metropolitan transport lines of the City and this has a direct impact on the lines in the interior of the country. What the statement conveys regarding us,
began two days ago with the application of the rate increase
and a ticket that starts at $270," confirmed Jorge Troilo, head of the transportation business sector.
In a note made by the
TN
channel , Troilo said that until March 31 "there are no changes in passenger subsidies", since until that day "there is time to register the SUBE card."
But he anticipated that the removal of subsidies by the Government will be developed "gradually and in the period of just over a year."
"The increases will be given month by month and progressively. According to what we were told,
the total reduction will occur after one year,"
confirmed the head of the entity with jurisdiction in the City and Greater Buenos Aires.
And he added: "We do not know what the parameter will be to directly subsidize users. That is a decision of the Government. Our system is always regulated by the State and how much it sets the cost of the ticket."
Finally, he estimated what the current value of the ticket would be if a similar measure were implemented in the AMBA: "Today, without any type of compensation, the average ticket would be around 1,500 pesos."
Bus tickets in the AMBA area will gradually rise, they warn.

The measure that impacted this Thursday morning includes the
"immediate" elimination of the Interior Compensation Fund
, whose million-dollar sums were received by bus companies that operate outside the AMBA.
As reported by the Ministry of Transportation, the Government will reduce the subsidy to companies providing passenger transportation services under national jurisdiction, to concentrate help on the users who need it most directly, channeling said assistance through the SUBE.
"This is assistance that is the same for everyone, regardless of where they live, and that implies a 55% discount on the public transport ticket rate," said the Secretariat, which highlighted that "the decision of the national State "is that the funds reach citizens directly, without intermediaries of any kind, and thus benefiting the people who need it most."
