It's a scam as simple as a phone call.
But for the victims, the bill runs into thousands of euros.
The fake bank advisor scam, consisting of manipulating customers to force them to carry out fraudulent transactions on their accounts, has never been so successful.
Already, in 2022, the damage had reached 340 million euros (+ 27% in one year).
And in the first half of 2023, the bill already climbs to 203 million euros, according to the Banque de France.
Increase in power confirmed on the Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr site, where requests for help linked to this scam increased by 78% in 2023 with 5,000 requests.

In detail, transfer fraud amounts to damage of 115 million euros, validation of fraudulent card payments, 88 million.
“Depending on the personal data he was able to collect, the scammer will choose one or the other of the processes,” explains Julien Lasalle, secretary of the Observatory for the security of means of payment at the Banque de France.
But these usurpers increasingly favor transfer fraud, which brings in an average of 3,300 euros, while with a fraudulent payment by card, the average amount per scam is 168 euros.
