Launched in December, this feature has recently made it possible to register on a waiting list to obtain a seat on a train. An innovation

No need to check ten times on your smartphone or computer to see if a train has finally become available on the day you want to travel.

After having experienced “a difficult start” admitted this Thursday, February 8, Christophe Fanichet, CEO of SNCF voyageur, the SNCF Connect application was recently equipped with new features to facilitate the journeys of its travelers.

The company's managers presented on the same day in the premises of their Rimbaud campus, in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), the latest technological innovations of the SNCF and those to come.

The opportunity to take stock of a new feature in the application and website, which directly concerns users: the “full train alert” system, available since December 2023, and which seems to be proving its worth.

84% of those registered were able to find a place

The user can now create an alert on a train displayed as “full”, and be notified by notification when a place becomes available.

He then has “a window of 10 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the departure date of his train” (several weeks, a few days or a few hours), to finalize the reservation.

A limited solution for the moment: the waiting list can only include 30 people per train.

As a reminder, the application claims 15 million customers and 1.3 billion visits per year.

The railway company also wants to pamper its future international public in the run-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

Another new feature should soon be available to foreign travelers.

The “SNCF-Trad” application, which will allow SNCF staff, from their smartphone, to better communicate with users by translating live a tourist's question into French, then the agent's response into the language. desired, in stations and on board trains.

First tested during the Rugby World Cup, this tool will be deployed in the coming months at all stations, to be operational during the 2024 Games, in more than 130 languages.
