The SuperPharm chain will compensate a transgender who was not hired in one of the chain's branches.
The pharma giant was sued by the transgender job seeker through the Equal Opportunities Commission at the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
The lawsuit was filed against the SuperPharm chain, a franchisee on its behalf, an external supplier and a subcontractor on its behalf, through which they provided services to the chain's branches during the Corona epidemic.
The plaintiff wanted to be hired as a thermometer in the network during the Corona period and was rejected, when in his lawsuit he claimed that it was discrimination based on his gender identity.
The parties reached agreements in which Superpharm did not admit to discrimination against the plaintiff, but agreed to compensate him and so did the franchisee of the relevant branch.
The lawsuit against the external supplier and the subcontractor continues to be conducted.
The chain claimed within the framework of the agreements received that "the chain's branches employ male and female workers from all shades of the population, from the LGBT community and transgenders in particular." It further claimed that the subcontractor acted contrary to the chain's values and that the issue is also acute among the subcontractors who provide services to the chain's franchisees.

Attorney Sion Azoulai, who represents the plaintiff in the proceedings from the Equality Commission, said that "this is a very important lawsuit because the underlying discrimination, discrimination against transgender people in employment, is serious, and we will continue to conduct the lawsuit against the subcontractor and the external supplier."
