Faced with this commercial offensive, Renault was unable to do well. Unable to do so or unwilling.
Of the 50,000 orders recorded by manufacturers in barely two months, Stellantis won around 35,000 contracts and Renault totaled just over 10,000.
Both were on the starting line at the same time.
Several reasons explain this imbalance.
First, the supply of models eligible for this super-subsidy (13,000 euros per vehicle) was very uneven.
Stellantis opened the doors of its store wide, first offering nine electric models from its five brands Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Fiat and even Jeep.
The amounts of the long-term rental rents offered made the big difference and gave the choice between a small Fiat 500 at 49 euros per month and a Peugeot 2008…
