The Government decided that
the maximum negative balance
allowed on each
SUBE card
remains frozen at
$480
, due to
"technical problems."
That value
is not enough to complete even two
bus trips (the minimum ticket is $270) in the City and Greater Buenos Aires, when it was usually up to four minimum tickets.
According to
resolution 12/2024 of the Ministry of Transportation
, published this Friday in the Official Gazette, an "instant recharge credit was established for the cards of the
Single Electronic Ticket System (SUBE)
equivalent
to $ 480
, which will be usable every time the card does not have a balance available for use and access to all
public transport
services
, and will be restored as a priority" in the next charge.
In the recitals of the norm, the Government justifies that
Nación Servicios reported that the SUBE cards "currently do not have sufficient logical internal capacity for the storage of the negative balance"
and stated that it is working on the "replacement in the field of part of the Modules or Secure Access" to the system and its machines, and the reprogramming of those that do not need to be replaced.
After the increase in the minimum bus ticket in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) to $270 -and to $130 on trains-,
it was expected that the maximum negative balance would escalate to $1,080
, but that is technically impossible at this time .
