Hundreds of trains canceled, 150,000 passengers left on the platform, struggles to find alternative solutions... After a laborious weekend of departure on vacation, marked by the massive strike of controllers, a return to normal will take place on the rail network.

SUD Rail's notice period ends this Monday, February 19 at 8 a.m.

“Slight disruptions” could still take place very soon, here or there, but SNCF Voyageurs says it “does not have any concerns”.

“We have not had any particular feedback suggesting continued mobilization,” adds the railway company.

And this, despite the renewable notice filed by the CGT Cheminots.

This appears to be “very little followed” by the national ASCT collective (CNA), according to one of its influential members.

These controllers, gathered on Facebook, do not plan to go on strike again next weekend.

“The fight is not over yet,” warns Olivier, co-founder of the collective.

We are discussing with the union organizations and a notice should be filed for the April holidays to force management to respond to our demands.

The controllers, through SUD Rail, demand a revaluation of 500 euros gross per month of the work bonus.

Management plans to begin, at the beginning of March, a series of bilateral meetings and round tables on the end of the career of the profession, during which their remuneration will be discussed to improve the calculation of their retirement pension.

“Despite our communications and our alerts, management did not react, until the conflict.

It is up to her to give us satisfaction to prevent a weekend like the one we experienced from being repeated in a month and a half,” Olivier warns again.

Too early to know the impact on traffic

Even before a hypothetical new mobilization of controllers during the Easter holidays, a threat already looms over next weekend.

With, this time, a strike... of the SNCF Réseau switchmen, responsible for organizing and monitoring the movement of trains on the rails.

SUD Rail, again, calls on them to walk out this Friday and Saturday.

For the moment, it is too early to assess the impact of the possible mobilization.

The CGT Cheminots, discreet until now, has not yet formally called on its troops to engage in the conflict.

Just like the two other representative unions (Unsa Ferroviaire and CFDT Cheminots).

This does not prevent SUD Rail, alone, from continuing its strategy of stirring up several fronts, after the maintenance technicians in mid-January and the controllers, therefore, this weekend.

At the end of compulsory annual negotiations (NAO) deemed insufficient at the end of last year

(4.6% average increase, including 1.8% general increase),

the union wishes to “put pressure” on management to reopen discussions.

“We have been saying from the start that it is necessary to get back around the table,” says a union official.

The other organizations refused to lead a unitary movement, so it should not be surprising that corporatist conflicts appear.

» And disruptions for travelers with it.
