The National Government
made official this Monday at $70,000 the value of the Annual School Aid
that the ANSeS pays in March of each year and which reaches more than 7 million children from initial to secondary level.
This was established by decree No. 150/2024, published in the Official Gazette, which specifies that the $70,000 will be paid
“without distinction by differential zones
.”
Until now, annual school aid
was $17,318 at the general level.
In the case of workers in a dependency relationship, by differential areas,
it reached up to $34,523
.
The 4 differential zones cover different provinces, such as La Pampa, Río Negro, Santa Cruz, Neuquén and districts and towns of Salta or Buenos Aires, among others.
Thus, for those who collect the AUH and monotributistas, the increase is 304% (from $17,318 to $70,000).
And for workers in a dependency relationship in these different areas, it represents an increase of between 102.8% and 304.2%.
According to private estimates,
annual school costs increased between 300 and 400%.
Now, the $70,000 per child is for those who attend initial, basic general education and
without distinction by
differential zones.
In its recitals, the decree ensures that, "with the objective of alleviating the increased expenses that Argentine families will incur due to the start of the 2024 school year", the measure becomes "necessary."
The start of classes is anticipated with strong increases in private school fees as well as supplies and elements essential for school activity.
"The Argentine Republic is going through
a situation of unprecedented severity
, generating deep imbalances that negatively impact the entire population, especially socially and economically," the decree noted.
The annual school aid includes families who receive a Family or Universal Allowance and have children from 45 days to 18 years old who attend school at any level (initial, primary or secondary).
For those with
children with disabilities
who receive special education, attend sheltered workshops, rehabilitation centers or receive support from registered private teachers,
there is no age limit
to access the benefit.
Who receives school aid
The maximum income limit for the family group to receive school aid is
$3,960,000 (gross),
while no member exceeds $1,980,000 (gross), equivalent to 15 SMVM (Minimum, Living and Mobile Wage).
According to several specialists, these limits should increase in March to $2,340,000 (gross) and $4,680,000, which are the values of 15 SMVM as of last December.
