Thirty-one people died and ten were injured, some seriously, when a bus carrying travelers going to Burkina Faso fell from a bridge on Tuesday February 27 in southeastern Mali, the Transport Ministry said. .
“A bus (...) carrying Malians and nationals from the sub-region, (which) was leaving Kéniéba for Burkina Faso, overturned from the bridge.
The probable cause is the driver's lack of control of the vehicle
,” said a press release.
The care of the victims is underway, continues the ministry.
Another accident killed fifteen people and injured 46 eight days ago after the collision of a bus and a truck in the center.
Road accidents are frequent in Mali and are generally due to the poor condition of roads and vehicles, and to human failure.
