Highlights: Election day for local authorities was one of the peak days in credit spending. The Israeli public took advantage of the sabbath day of the 2024 municipal elections by shopping in commercial and shopping centers and malls. The industries in which spending on credit jumped on yesterday's election day are: restaurants, cafes and fast food with spending of NIS 136.58 million. An increase of more than 24% in the spending of Israelis on credit cards during the election day for the local authorities compared to the last election day for the Knesset which took place in November 2022

Data from the Sheba company, which manages and develops the national credit card payment system, shows that despite the continuation of the fighting and shooting yesterday in the south and north, the Israeli public took advantage of the sabbath day of the 2024 municipal elections by shopping in commercial and shopping centers and malls.



The data shows that during yesterday, unusual and high expenses totaling NIS 1.577 billion were recorded.

This is a 24.1% higher figure compared to the amount of expenses on the last election day, November 1, 2022, when expenses totaling NIS 1.271 billion were recorded during the day.



In the previous municipal elections, held on October 30, 2018, the amount of daily expenses amounted to a total of only NIS 839.766 million, and Sheba reported that the amount of expenses yesterday was 18.6% higher than the average daily amount of expenses from the beginning of 2024, which is NIS 1.331 billion.
