Data from the Sheba company, which manages and develops the national credit card payment system, shows that despite the continuation of the fighting and shooting yesterday in the south and north, the Israeli public took advantage of the sabbath day of the 2024 municipal elections by shopping in commercial and shopping centers and malls.
The data shows that during yesterday, unusual and high expenses totaling NIS 1.577 billion were recorded.
This is a 24.1% higher figure compared to the amount of expenses on the last election day, November 1, 2022, when expenses totaling NIS 1.271 billion were recorded during the day.
In the previous municipal elections, held on October 30, 2018, the amount of daily expenses amounted to a total of only NIS 839.766 million, and Sheba reported that the amount of expenses yesterday was 18.6% higher than the average daily amount of expenses from the beginning of 2024, which is NIS 1.331 billion.

The industries in which spending on credit jumped on yesterday's election day are: restaurants, cafes and fast food with spending of NIS 136.58 million, food chains with spending of NIS 211.07 million, entertainment and leisure with spending of NIS 11.67 million, clothing and footwear with spending of NIS 126.03 million, Electricity and electronics with NIS 106.13 million, the pharma chains with NIS 43.24 million.
