Nación Seguros, the insurer that was caught in the middle of a scandal due to the way in which Anses - through intermediaries who charged juicy commissions - insured debtors of credits granted by the pension agency,
decided to remove the brokers from the business.
, at least in cases where the client is a State agency.
“From now on, all
contracts will be 'live'
, meaning that the organization in question will negotiate the price with Nación Seguros, which is how it should always have been,” an official source who closely follows the scandal uncovered this Sunday
told
Clarín
. by
Clarín.
“Live” hiring is not a rarity.
In fact, this is how they took different types of insurance with the Nación company, firms such as
Aerolíneas Argentinas or YPF.
But apparently,
these were rarities,
if one takes into account that from the highest levels of power it was suggested that brokers be hired who, thanks to that suggestion, invoiced
juicy commissions.
So far the
Anses and Gendarmerie
cases have jumped out , but they would not be the only ones.
In these hours, decisions were made at various points to clarify the panorama.
On the one hand, an audit
of the entire public administration, decentralized organizations and state companies
was initiated to determine under what conditions they contracted insurance.
Nación Seguros is receiving this information from all its clients.
No less important, this Wednesday afternoon
the Anti-Corruption Office appeared at the federal court of Julián Ercolini
to hear the complaint filed earlier by lawyer Silvina Martínez and work on the presentation of that public agency to be accepted as a complainant in the cause.
Those denounced by Martínez are
former president Alberto Fernández
and the former head of Nación Seguros,
Alberto Pagliano.
What is known so far is that, in addition to the recommendations that came down from power, various public organizations
had their own favorite broker
.
In short, what is emerging is that it was the policyholders themselves (the organizations) who imposed the figure of the intermediary.
It must be clarified that the broker is a common figure in the insurance business.
For clients and insurers, it is similar to the figure of a bank's "credit officer", that is, the one who is in direct contact with the insured, answering questions and offering solutions.
What is incomprehensible is that the State itself hires an intermediary to “negotiate” between public entities, and for this charges a succulent commission, unjustifiable due to the volume operated - whether due to the number of Anses debtors, or security forces personnel. , or insured assets.
The negotiation had its origin in decree 823/2021.
Said decree indicates that the jurisdictions and entities included in article 8 of Law No. 24,156 on Financial Administration and Control Systems of the National Public Sector must implement the contracting of the insurance policies that they require in the exercise of their management. through Nación Seguros SA in all the branches in which that institution operates.
This includes the National Administration, Decentralized Organizations, Social Security Institutions (Anses) and State companies and companies.
The main intermediary or "broker" is Pablo Torres García, close to Sergio Massa.
He is the owner of the Rossel Boher winery and the Cerro Bayo company, in Villa La Angostura, province of Neuquén.
Héctor Martínez Sosa, husband of the secretary of former President Alberto Fernández, is also involved.
