The SNCF is champing at the bit.
The railway company is “impatiently” awaiting its TGV M, the “train of the future”, built by Alstom.
First scheduled for 2023, the first deliveries were successively postponed to early 2024, then to the summer for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.
And now in 2025, without the SNCF providing any further details.

“It’s quite daring, when we know that the schedule has been agreed and approved by the SNCF,” squeaks a player in the file at Alstom.
Mired in organizational problems and an inability to ramp up since the health crisis, Alstom has not been able to get the trains out of its factories.
“At SNCF, they knew very well that the initial deadline provided for in the contract was not realistic,” confides this same source.
It is not just an improvement of an existing train, but a complete creation, a gem of engineering.
Achieving it in such a short time is impossible.
» Six years after the launch of production, the difficulties are now focused on the emergency battery, desired by the SNCF, so that the TGV M can run even in the event of a power outage at the catenaries.
