The distributor published a press release this Wednesday to warn of attempts at “fraud and scams” ​​of which its customers could be the target.

The subsidiary indicated that its name and “the identity of certain of its employees” were used for “fraudulent purposes”.

It therefore called on its 37.5 million customers “to protect themselves” from these acts by recalling the framework within which Enedis employees act.

“Enedis does not carry out any commercial canvassing and does not sell any product or service which would alter the integrity of its customers' electrical panel in order to partially or totally reduce the amount to be paid for the electricity they have consumed,” the company indicated. .

Most of its interventions concern “electrical connection, installation of Linky meters, recording of electricity consumption, electrical troubleshooting following a power outage, and the commissioning of electricity contracts at the request of suppliers of energy”.

Procedures carried out at home “are always subject to a notice or an appointment previously agreed with the client”, continues Enedis.

The latter recalls that “energy theft” is punishable by heavy fines and imprisonment and that these sanctions can target the crooks but the people who accept “the implementation of these frauds”.

Thus, according to the distributor, two men were recently convicted for “illegal modifications to customers’ electrical panels”.
