An incident occurred at the start of the day in the Saumur sector. It could last up to almost two hours in some cases.

This is a significant but relatively brief outage.

44,000 homes were deprived of power at the start of the day Thursday in the south of the Maine-et-Loire department.

The problem started around 8:30 a.m., explains Ouest-France.

According to figures from INSEE (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies), a household being made up of 2.17 people on average in France, approximately 95,000 people were affected.

In addition, the total of 44,000 referring to “customers”, businesses also suffered the outage, which increases the total of people affected.

The Saumur sector was particularly affected, as were Montreuil-Bellay, Doué-en-Anjou and Vihiers.

Work began immediately after the problem was detected.

The network “is not weakened”

Contacted by Le Parisien, RTE (Electricity Transmission Network) explains that the problem occurred in Distré, near Saumur, around 8 a.m.

The company in charge of network management explains that the outage caused “disruptions to the distribution” made by Enedis, the company which manages the delivery of low voltage current to customers.

Enedis deployed teams on the ground and the resupply was done “gradually” in conjunction with RTE, quickly bringing down the peak of 44,000 homes without energy.

“All homes were replenished around 10 a.m.,” according to RTE.

The network manager ensures that it “is not weakened”.

An analysis will be carried out at the site of the breakdown and “corrective measures” will be taken if necessary.
