They have once again burst the ceiling!
In 2023, the French flagships of the CAC 40 managed to defy the elements and reach new historic heights for the second year in a row.
While they had collectively pulverized their profits in 2022, with a cumulative net result of 142 billion euros, this figure further increased last year to 146.8 billion euros (+3%) for the 38 groups of the flagship index of the Paris Stock Exchange having published their results -Alstom and Pernod-Ricard have staggered financial years-.
Never seen.
This is the third consecutive year that the profits of CAC 40 multinationals have exceeded 140 billion euros.
Only Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield fell into the red last year.
But this is linked to the loss of value of real estate assets.
Its benchmark indicator, recurring net profit, increased by 5.2% (to 1.41 billion euros).
And once again, a swarm of giants have shattered their own records, like TotalEnergies, Stellantis, LVMH, Hermès, Schneider Electric, Air Liquide, Capgemini or BNP Paribas and Crédit Agricole.
“Since Covid, CAC 40 multinationals have carried out in-depth work to reduce their costs and digitize.
And they managed their cash flow very well by taking on debt before the rise in very long-term rates.
