On this Wednesday of school holidays, the 11-year-old schoolgirl drove 11 km from her village of Fourdrain, in Aisne (400 inhabitants), with her grandmother and her little brother, to come and sit at the fast -food from Beautor.
Before, she said, you had to go to town, to Laon.
In December 2022, a brand new McDonald's restaurant opened at the gates of Beautor, a small town of less than 3,000 inhabitants with brown brick houses, surrounded by soggy pastures.
The drive welcomes busy drivers of the departmental road, but it only represents 30% of turnover.
