Yehuda Zisafel, one of the leaders of the high-tech industry in Israel, passed away tonight from an illness at the age of 82. Zisafel was one of the founders of Red Binat along with his brother Zohar Zisafel, who died last year, also from an illness.
Yehuda Zisafel has a bachelor's and master's degree in electrical engineering from the Technion and a master's degree in business administration from Tel Aviv University.
He and his brother Zohar were born in Tel Aviv to parents who ran a shoe store on Herzl Street in the city.
In the early 1980s, the brothers founded Red Communications Computers, the oldest in the Red-Binet group.
Later, another 27 high-tech companies joined the group.
The brothers also founded Hamat Red Binat for the field of life sciences.
Zisapel engaged in public activity designed to help different populations integrate into the high-tech field.
Among other things, he served as the chairman of the Hi-Tech Association, headed the Technion alumni organization and, together with his brother, founded the "Red Association" which annually awards hundreds of scholarships to underprivileged students specializing in engineering and computer science. The association also donates computer rooms to boarding schools and other educational institutions for children every year. and youth at risk and even lends musical instruments to outstanding students.

Marian Cohen, chairman of the High-Tech Association, said that "the late Yehuda Zispal was one of the first to contribute greatly to the Israeli high-tech industry and one of the most prominent, important and significant of them. An impressive visionary who, in addition to his business and public duties, was also the chairman of the Israeli High-Tech Association ) made sure to engage in philanthropy and even invested his time, energy and experience in guiding young entrepreneurs in order to help them and give back to the community in order to create sources of investment for the development of young technological companies.
Dozens of successful Israeli entrepreneurs grew out of Red and Binat companies, and Israeli hi-tech has great respect for Yehuda and Zohar Zisafel, the giants of the industry.
