The Government of Javier Milei will appoint
Luis Lucero
as the new
Secretary of Mining
, as reported this afternoon by the Ministry of Economy of the Nation.
Lucero is a lawyer specialized in the mining industry, in natural resources law and with extensive experience in project financing, corporate matters, and complex arbitrations and litigation.
He will occupy the position that Flavia Royón left in February, when she was fired by Milei after deputies from Salta objected to points of the Omnibus Law
Lucero graduated as a lawyer from the University of Buenos Aires;
He completed a Postgraduate Degree in Business Law from the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa, and then took several specialization courses and seminars, highlighting those carried out on government policy and corporate strategy in mining at the University of Dundee;
in negotiation at Harvard Law School;
in foundations of organizational sciences at both Columbia Business School and the University of Cambridge.
Lucero also received a Master of Arts degree, with honors, from University College London (UCL).
"Former partner of the Marval O'Farrell Mairal law firm and, previously, of very important legal firms in the country, he also worked as a foreign law consultant at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in the United States and has held positions on the board of directors and committees supervisors of various mining, gas distribution, industrial and financial companies," detailed the portfolio led by Luis Caputo in a statement released this Monday.
He also highlighted that Lucero spoke at various national and international institutions on topics related to the mining industry and project financing, highlighting the Center for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy, University of Dundee, where he was named Honorary Lecturer for the period October 2010. as of September 2013;
the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation;
and the United Stated Geological Survey.
"He has been recognized as an outstanding professional in his area of practice by numerous local and international publications," concludes the official text announcing the appointment.
