With its immense bar, the Brelin residence, overlooking the central Croisette district, the Menuires station (Savoie) is a symbol of the triumphant leisure town planning of the 1960s and 1970s. The one which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year is a pure product of the snow plans launched by the State to avoid the rural exodus in the mountains by bringing in tourists massively and quickly.
Perfectly efficient at the time and having stood the test of time thanks to the services it offers (ski-in/ski-out accommodation, pedestrian neighborhoods, residences with numerous shops, etc.), it is nonetheless very exposed to two current scourges of mountain real estate: cold beds and thermal strainers.
As a reminder, we speak of a “cold bed” to refer to these tourist accommodations which are not occupied for more than 5 weeks per year.
A very common situation in old residences entrusted to professional managers but which have returned to the hands of their owners...
