The ham in a tray that you grab in the fresh section, the prepared dish that you reheat in the microwave at lunchtime at the office, that canned ratatouille ideal for children in the evening: so many everyday products that are very difficult to find to know if the ingredients come from France or elsewhere.
This is confirmed by a study published this Thursday by UFC Que Choisir. While the government is currently working on the creation of an “Origine Info” logo, supposed to introduce more transparency, the consumer association looked at a sample of 243 processed foods (based on meat, cereals and vegetables) from national or distributor brands - at least six references per brand. She looked for information on the packaging on the origin of the main ingredients that compose them (484 in total).
