Air connections disrupted during school holidays? The Spaf (Air France pilots' union) called on its members this Wednesday to strike on April 15 and 16, during the school holiday period, reports Reuters.

The latter begin on April 6 for zone C (academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Versailles, Toulouse) and April 13 for zone A (academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon, Poitiers).

Towards a limited right to strike in transport?

The strike call was issued to protest against a proposed law aimed at limiting the right to strike in the transport sector. “We are demanding the pure and simple withdrawal of this text or at least the exclusion of cabin crew from this future law,” indicates the union, a minority at Air France, in a press release.

The text tabled by the centrist Hervé Marseille (UDI) must be debated in the Senate on April 9. It aims to establish “each year periods of a maximum of 15 days during which the government may prohibit strikes for staff of public transport services (land and air in mainland France and to overseas departments or communities). )”.

According to the senator from Hauts-de-Seine, the bill aims to “reconcile the continuity of the public transport service with the exercise of the right to strike” and not to “constitutionally call into question the right to strike guaranteed.” Freedom of movement “is also a right to which every citizen user can claim in the same way as the right to health and safety, the right to work and the freedom to do business”, underlines Hervé Marseille.
