The Netflix streaming service announced that it will raise its rates in Argentina and the impact on bills will be up to
72% in the case of the basic plan.
The increase for the standard plan is
71.5% and 67.3% for the premium.
These new values will apply, in principle, to new users. Then, they will come into effect for current customers who will receive an email in which they will be notified about this increase,
30 days before the price changes
.
In turn, the platform detailed that the update date depends on the billing date of each client.
As it is a consumption in dollars - although the value is expressed in pesos - some taxes are applied to this service on the price of the subscription. Among them, VAT (21%), Payment on account of taxes on Income and Personal Property (30%) and COUNTRY Tax (8%).
“Taxes may vary by country, state, territory and city,
and are based on the rates applicable at the time your Netflix charge is made. These amounts may change over time and local tax requirements,” the company explains on its website.
Additionally, “Netflix charges your monthly membership in Argentine pesos (ARS). For technical reasons, card issuers may convert certain international charges to United States Dollars (USD), which explains why the charge on your statement appears in USD.”

Basic Plan:
it cost $2,499 and went to $4,299. With taxes

Standard Plan:
the price was $4,199 and went to $7,199. Taking into account taxes,

is $15,421
. This plan allows you to watch content on 4 compatible devices at the same time and in Ultra HD.

the price of the Premium plan is being updated to $9,699 (tax not included)
. Therefore, Your new monthly cost will be $9,699 (taxes not included) starting May 10, 2024," describes the message sent by Netflix to its customers.
Extra for shared membership
Since last year, Netflix imposed an action to prevent its customers from sharing the service without paying for it. From there an extra charge was born for those who have a standard or premium plan. The amount charged for each extra member is
$2,499 per month for each addition.
“People who are not part of your household will need to sign up to have their own account and watch Netflix. In many countries, you can purchase an extra member slot to add an extra member to your account,” they indicate.
And in a notable note, the platform clarifies that
"extra members have their own account and password, but the membership is paid for by the person who invited them
to share their Netflix account." And in this regard he adds: "Each plan determines the number of extra member slots you can add."
