More than 1.57 million dead
The pandemic has killed at least 1.57 million people worldwide since the end of December 2019, according to a report established by AFP on Thursday, December 10.
Some 68.8 million cases have been officially diagnosed since the start of the epidemic.
The United States has the most deaths (292,091), followed by Brazil (179,765), India (141,772) and Mexico (111,655).

Russia: 50,000 more dead than in October 2019
Russia recorded nearly 50,000 more deaths in October compared to October 2019, according to figures released Thursday, December 10 by the Rosstat statistics agency, a total much higher than the number of declared deaths from the coronavirus.

"Worrisome" increase in cases in Germany and England

The number of Covid-19 deaths in Spain between March and May exceeded 45,000, or around 18,000 more than the official toll, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
