The curve of the Covid-19 epidemic in Italy has peaked and is starting to decline. This means that on average in Italy the contagion index Rt is less than 1, while very different situations are observed in the regions. This is what emerges from the calculations made by the physicist Roberto Battiston, of the University of Trento.
"We are at the peak and the curve is starting to go down," the physicist told ANSA. "We are at the top for the infected and have exceeded the maximum in ICU admissions and hospitalizations." Now, he added, "it is essential not to let go of the situation and to accompany the decrease, which will require the utmost caution and a lot of time, at least a couple of months".
