Sentenced this Wednesday morning to one year in prison suspended in the Crédit Lyonnais arbitration case in favor of Bernard Tapie, Stéphane Richard, CEO of Orange since 2011, resigned at the end of the day during a council extraordinary administration.
"His departure will be effective from the establishment of new governance and no later than January 31, 2022," said the board of directors in a press release.
The Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, had warned in 2018 that in the event of conviction, Stéphane Richard could no longer remain at the helm of the telecoms giant in which the State holds nearly 23%.
The boss of the group, chief of staff of Christine Lagarde at the time of the facts, therefore did not really have a choice.
