A predator on the hunt in the trains of the Paris metro, Amine D., 28, was sentenced on Tuesday by the Paris Criminal Court to a four-month prison sentence.

This young man appeared for having, last Friday, stolen the mobile phone of a woman at the Strasbourg Saint-Denis metro station.

This story begins on line 2 at Anvers station.

A policeman overhears a scene that catches his attention.

A couple of tourists are struggling with two young people who seem to have robbed them.

One of the criminals pulls out a box cutter, threatens the victims and the accomplices flee.

The policeman is alone and decides to shadow them.

The suspects board a subway train.

Arriving in Barbes, the duo releases a blade and tries to attack a woman.

She manages to flee and the thieves take back the metro on line 4.

This time, three policemen are waiting for them.

They stop Amine who throws his cutter on the tracks.

His accomplice tries to flee but he is apprehended.

The two men are placed in police custody in the premises of the regional transport security.

The video surveillance images do not really allow to corroborate the observations of the police officer.

But the victim formally recognizes her attacker.

They were both brought to the courthouse.

The minor was brought before a juvenile judge.

In the court box, Amine confesses.

“Yes, I stole that phone.

But I was unarmed and I was alone.

I have no choice because I have been on the street since my release from prison,” he explains.

This young man of Algerian origin arrived in France seven months ago.

He is already well known to the police for theft and damage.

He left the remand center on July 20 after serving a four-month sentence for a theft in public transport... His lawyer believes that this person has lost all his bearings because "she is disintegrated socially”.

The prosecutor recalls that “this does not authorize him to terrorize metro passengers.
