Renault gives details of the 4,600 planned job cuts in France

The manufacturer clarified on Tuesday its plan to save two billion euros over three years, which provides for a total of 15,000 job cuts worldwide.


The Renault group said that out of the 4,600 job cuts planned at its sites in France, 1,500 would concern engineering, we learned from concordant sources Tuesday, while a central social and economic committee (CCSE) was held . The automaker also wants to cut 2,100 jobs in France in its production activities and 1,000 positions in support functions. These job cuts must be carried out through retraining, internal mobility and voluntary departures.

Management told the CCSE on Tuesday its plan to save two billion euros over three years, unveiled at the end of May, which provides for a total of 15,000 job cuts worldwide.

Currently, the Renault group has 48,000 employees in France, including 17,300 in production, 8,900 in engineering and 6,600 in support functions. The rest of the jobs are distributed within subsidiaries, in particular the sales network (Renault Retail Group, RRG) and the banking activity RCI Bank.

Before the opening of the CCSE, the CFDT Renault (2nd union of the group) had denounced "a planned reduction plan for French production". She said she supported "as of today all the expertise procedures, which will be necessary on all the sites concerned by this dossier, that is to say all the sites of Renault and its subsidiaries".
