The organization Children's Health Defense - in German about defending the health of children - has repeatedly expressed criticism of corona vaccinations.
The group claims to have hundreds of thousands of followers on the social media channels Instagram and Facebook.
Facebook parent Meta has now banned the group, which was founded by prominent anti-vaccinationist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., from its networks.
Meta spokesman Aaron Simpson told AFP the group violated the networks' rules on spreading misinformation.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – nephew of US President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963, and son of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated five years later – accused the online giant of restricting freedom of expression.
"Facebook is acting here as a representative of the government's crusade to silence all criticism of draconian government policies." The ban came as a surprise.
Children's Health Defense also released screenshots of their accounts.
It states that the accounts have been banned for violating the misinformation meta rules, which could lead to real-world harm.
