Ronaldinho's legal team has presented to the Paraguayan public prosecutor's office a plea deal that will lead to the release of the former Barcelona star and his brother, sources told ESPN Brazil.
The 2005 Golden Ball winner and his brother Roberto Assis were arrested in March as they tried to enter Paraguay with fake passports. After 32 days, the two were released from prison in Paraguay after paying $ 800,000 bail each and being placed under house arrest at a luxury hotel in the state capital, Asuncion, where they remained for several months.
A source close to the lawsuit said last week that the case against the two was closed at "90%". In the plea deal, the two will admit that they tried to enter Paraguay with fake passports and would incur heavy fines of $ 20,000 and $ 50,000 respectively for Ronaldinho and his brother. In addition, Roberto, the brother of the football legend will agree to a criminal record in Paraguay but the former footballer's page will be clean.
