Deutsche Bahn expects train cancellations and delays until Tuesday evening after a train has derailed in Wolfsburg. ICE and IC trains on the Berlin-Bonn, Berlin-Basel and Berlin-Amsterdam routes were delayed by 15 to 50 minutes, individual trains were canceled and the Wolfsburg stop was canceled, said a rail spokesman on Saturday. The ICE trains from Berlin to Frankfurt Airport were canceled completely. There were no injuries in the accident, but damage in the millions was caused.
There was a shunting accident in Wolfsburg early on Friday morning, and long-distance trains could no longer approach the main station.
After initial investigations, a train driver had overlooked a signal while shunting.
The train from the Enno railway company ran into a so-called emergency track, which ends after a few meters.
The first three wagons jumped off the rails, rammed a power pole and tore down an overhead line, as the federal police announced.
The derailed wagons then came to a halt on the gravel.
The train driver suffered a shock and had to receive medical attention.
There were no passengers on the train.
According to the railway, the Wolfsburg main station can be reached from Hanover with regional trains on the RE 30 line.
The regional trains of the RE 50 line from Hildesheim and Braunschweig end and therefore begin in Wolfsburg-Fallersleben.
A replacement bus service has been set up between Fallersleben and Wolfsburg Hbf.
In addition to the Deutsche Bahn trains, Enno trains were also affected.
Trains on the Hildesheim-Braunschweig-Wolfsburg route start and end in the neighboring Fallersleben.
Special vehicles and cranes were called in to put the train back on the track and to set up the overhead line.
The railway spokesman said that the salvage work was underway.
Then the overhead line would have to be repaired.
