Weather: 79 departments threatened by thunderstorms this Saturday

Early in the morning, isolated thunderstorms erupted in central France. A phenomenon that will extend to the entire territory throughout the day.


This weekend, France undergoes another generalized and strong stormy degradation.

This is linked to an atmospheric blockage which favors the rise of a mass of hot and very unstable air coming from North Africa and Spain, confronting cold air arriving from the Atlantic.

In total, 79 departments of the metropolis should be affected to varying degrees.

This Saturday at 9 am, a few isolated thunderstorms have already broken out towards the Center-Val de Loire.

But the real generalized degradation will be organized in the Aquitaine basin from 10:30 am, according to La Chaîne Météo *.

In the east, the night was again heavy and tropical with temperatures which did not drop below 20 ° C between the plain of Alsace and the Lyonnais.

This afternoon, the situation will deteriorate in turn from Occitania to the Center-West and Center then towards the Paris basin.

The Île-de-France region should be affected from 5 to 6 p.m.

This is the beginning of the critical period.

Thunderstorms will be organized more in line and, under the most violent of them, intense rains can be triggered (up to 50 mm) but also violent gusts of wind between 80 and 100 km / h.

In the evening, the critical period will continue.

The stormy offensive will spread to the northernmost regions, from Hauts-de-France to the Ardennes.

From Auvergne to Burgundy and Lorraine but also down to the Central Massif and Lyonnais, thunderstorms are expected after 8 p.m. and after a very hot afternoon with temperatures between 31 and 34 ° C.

Wind gusts can reach 100 km / h locally.
