This episode of strong to very strong heat is linked to the presence of a high pressure system over France. This anticyclone brings up Saharan air over our regions, especially in the south of the country.

Due to its duration and its intensity between 2 and 4 days, this episode of high heat will constitute in some regions a scorching episode with very high temperatures for more than 3 consecutive days. At night, the strong daytime heat will be difficult to escape, especially in large cities. Near the Mediterranean, the presence of the Mistral and the Tramontane, very high temperatures and dry air could create the risk of fires or fires.

This situation therefore requires special attention, hence our current alert to which other departments will be added due to the spatial extension of these high temperatures towards the center and east of the country.

Note that from Wednesday, potentially violent thunderstorms will develop in the West.

This very stormy weather could then become general and be maintained until the end of the next weekend in many regions.
