(ANSA) - HAVANA, APRIL 5 - A 101-year-old Cuban woman suffering from coronavirus "is in serious condition": the Ministry of Health announced. This is the oldest patient recorded on the island, a 'record' who until a few days ago belonged to Marta Sánchez, a 94-year-old woman who was discharged on April 1 from the 'Pedro Kourí' Institute of Tropical Diseases in Havana.
Currently there are 282 patients infected by Covid-19 on the Caribbean island and six died. Among these is also a 61-year-old Italian citizen who died in mid-March.
The elderly patient, whose legality has not been revealed, is a resident of La Playa, in the province of Havana. She experienced the first symptoms of Covid-19 on March 30 and the next day was hospitalized in the Luis Díaz Soto Hospital in the Cuban capital. Doctors have found that the woman is in a serious state with inflammatory lesions in both the lung fields, elevated creatine and slight respiratory failure.
