The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced today the suspension of working hours in public and private universities and institutes for a period of two weeks, starting from Monday 4-5-2021 until Saturday 4-17-2021.
The Ministry also announced the postponement of the exams scheduled for the same period in public and private universities, institutes and open education, to another date to be determined later.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, said that the suspension of working hours in public and private universities and higher and intermediate institutes for a period of two weeks came in the interest of the health and safety of students in light of the spread of the Corona virus and the difficulty of their movement.
The Minister of Higher Education stated in a call with Al-Suriya TV today that the second semester will be extended by the amount of vacation to compensate for the educational loss of students after the decision to suspend working hours in universities, pointing to the request of professors and faculty members to download the scientific lectures scheduled during the next two weeks on the websites of the colleges so that he can The student take advantage of it during the vacation period.
In this regard, the Presidency of Damascus University has circulated to colleges and higher institutes to stop all examination, study and research work except for the urgent ones, and to inform them of actions that must not stop in order to secure their continuation.
The university presidency also requested the Deanship of the Faculties and Institutes to be in their work on a rotating basis at the minimum level to secure the needs and follow up on the administrative work required to run the university’s affairs without stopping.
