The escalating Middle East conflict is polarizing far beyond the region.
Celebrities also repeatedly comment on the conflict between the Israeli military and the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas.
The model Bella Hadid has already made her support for the Palestinians public several times on her Instagram channel.
The 24-year-old describes herself there as »Palestinian & Dutch«, her father is of Palestinian descent.
During a protest march in the USA, the model has now apparently made anti-Semitic statements.
In a video from the demonstration, Hadid and others apparently called for "the Jews to be thrown into the sea."
In a text accompanying the pictures of the protests, Hadid also wrote: "It is 'Free Palestine' until Palestine is free".
The video was picked up on the official Twitter account of the Israeli state.
Celebrities like Bella Hadid would advocate "the destruction of the Jewish state" with such statements, announced the state account and continued to write: "Shame on you!"
Hadid initially did not respond to the Israeli criticism on Twitter.
In an older post she had distanced herself from anti-Semitic statements: “I want to be very clear.
Hatred from both sides is not okay - I will not tolerate that.
I will not allow people to speak badly of Jewish people.
This is about humanity and not about religion, ”Hadid wrote at the time.
The model had already caused a stir in 2019 with an Instagram post.
At that time, a shoe could be seen that appears to be kicking the flag of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
After the snapshot was published, people from both countries accused her of racism.
Hadid later called the photo a "mistake".
In Germany, too, there had recently been anti-Semitic and anti-Jewish protests in connection with the tense situation in the Middle East.
Participants had chanted anti-Semitic slogans, Israel flags were lit and synagogues were attacked.
Israel's ambassador to Berlin, Jeremy Issacharoff, expressed concern and described the images as "disturbing".
